In 2006 The Da Vinci Code and Inferno were adapted to screenplays, and were very controversial. Since Brown's books are heavily researched, it would sometimes take two years to finish a novel. With that success, his first three books also became very well received with all four novels being listed on the New York Times best sellers list at one time! The next novel, The Lost Symbol, sold over 1,000,000 copies its first day. His first few novels had very little success, but the fourth novel, The Da Vinci Code proved to be one of the most popular books of all time. Angels and Demons was his second book published and was the first novel to include the lead character, Robert Langdon. Brown's growing up years gave an excellent base for his future writings.īrown was inspired to be a writer of thrillers after reading Sidney Sheldon's novel The Doomsday Conspiracy. His parents involved their children in the family dynamics of using codes, cyphers, crossword puzzles, and treasure hunts to tie together math, music, and languages. They also many times feature historical themes and controversial Christianity motifs.

Just as in real life, no one emotion dominated the entire book. There were moments of excitement, wonder, sadness, happiness, ect. I did not have any extreme reaction to this book other than pure enjoyment. He is the Sherlock Holmes of symbolism, and as always his brain rather than his braun gets him out of his predicaments.ĭid you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry? Robert Langdon was of course my favorite character. Which character – as performed by Paul Michael – was your favorite? I would spoil the story if I said more, but as in real life, our hero's don't always have Houdini's escape skills. There were so many, but if I had to choose one it would be when Robert Langdon was placed in the coffin and it began filling with liquid. What was one of the most memorable moments of The Lost Symbol? I could, however, describe my reaction in three words : riveting action thriller. If I could sum up any novel in three words, I would put a lot of authors out of business. If you could sum up The Lost Symbol in three words, what would they be?
